Screened for during your eye test
Free eye test for PRSI & Medical Card holders
If you hold a full medical card, or have enough PRSI contributions, you're entitled to a free eye examination once every two years (more often if there's a clinical reason).
Free glasses are also available from the €89 range under the PRSI scheme.
Excludes eye tests for VDU use, safety glasses, or driving licences. Bring your PPS number when booking.

PRSI & Medical Card benefits
Many people in Ireland who are employed or self-employed are eligible for a free PRSI eye test or ear test.
PRSI
You may qualify for the PRSI Medical Treatment Benefit Scheme. This allows people with the right amount of PRSI contributions to benefit from free and discounted optical treatment.
When booking your appointment, let us know your PPS number so we can check whether you're eligible for a free eye test or ear test.
Medical Cards
If you qualify under the Medical Card scheme, pop into our store to complete an application form. We'll send the completed form to the HSE for authorisation on your behalf, and you'll receive it back at your postal address. Once you have it, you can go ahead and book your appointment.
Please bring your HSE-authorised form with you to your eye test or ear test.
