Construction began on 7 July 2026 on McGreals at Jigginstown, marked by a sod-turning ceremony on the Newbridge Road in Naas. Minister James Lawless TD was joined by fellow local representatives Naoise Ó Cearúil TD, Joe Neville TD and Councillor Bill Clear, along with McGreals Pharmacy Group and invited guests, to mark the start of the project.
The development sits on the site of the former Ashgrove Auction House, beside Chadwicks, and will bring together several essential services under one roof: a McGreals pharmacy, a new medical practice led by Dr Aoife Kavanagh, a physiotherapy clinic, and a large retail unit — a 33,000 sq ft healthcare and retail hub aimed at serving Naas's growing population.
Rathcorbally Construction is carrying out the build, with Roundhill Developments overseeing the project. Completion is expected in June 2027.
Kilian McGreal, Director of McGreals Pharmacy Group, described the milestone as reflecting years of planning and a long-term commitment to investing in community healthcare, and welcomed Sarah McCarthy — who will serve as Managing Pharmacist at the new location.
Minister Lawless welcomed the investment, noting that with roughly 4,000 new homes planned for the surrounding area, developments like this will help ensure local families have healthcare services close to home. He also spoke positively of Dr Aoife Kavanagh's new practice opening at the site, citing his own family's long-standing trust in her care.
With construction now underway, McGreals Pharmacy Group looks forward to welcoming patients and customers to Jigginstown once the development is complete.
