McGreals Primary Care Centre ‘Built by the community for the community’

Work has concluded in recent weeks on Blessington’s new primary care centre located beside the Wicklow County Council building in Blessington, Co Wicklow. Mcgreals Pharmacy and Centric Health are now open with the HSE and The Hermitage Clinic planning to operate from the centre as soon as September.

The two-storey building, which has a total floor area of 21,000 sq ft, was developed by Kilian McGreal, a local entrepreneur and Managing Director of McGreals Pharmacy Group. McGreals pharmacy is an Irish-owned community Pharmacy group with a proud record of serving the Irish public for over 50 years.

In 2014, Wicklow County Council granted permission to Kilian McGreal for the primary care facility. ‘This purpose built centre will be a key location for the provision of quality services, delivered in line with HIQA standards, to the community in Blessington and surrounding areas’ said a spokesperson.

‘The services provided will include: general pratictioners, public health nurses, consultants, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, wound clinic, dentistry and home care services.

‘This new facility will allow us to accommodate group work and support programmes such as parenting programmes and breastfeeding groups, etc.,’ said the spokesperson.

The facility is open Monday to Friday from 9-6pm with convenient parking on site. New traffic lights linking the new primary care centre and the town have been completed providing safe access for the community.

Kilian McGreal is delighted to see his plan to provide caring, considerate and modern primary medical care to Blessington community and surrounding areas come to fruition.
