Lugnaquilla Charity Hike with McGreals

We will be meeting at Fentons Bar, Glen of Imaal, Co Wicklow and beginning our hike up Lugnaquilla Mountain at 10.30am sharp on Sunday 25th September ’16’.
Car Parking available beside Fentons Bar. Anyone willing is welcome, spread the word.

Distance: Approximately 12km
Route: The route starts at Fentons Bar and follows the military access road southeast into the glen, and then follows a steepening grassy slope to Camara hill. From Camara the path becomes less steep, and a little muddy, as it follows the crest of a broad ascending ridge that finally flattens out at the summit plateau. The summit cairn lies ahead of you in an easterly direction and about 0.5 km across the plateau. From the summit, on a clear day, there are wonderful views of the surrounding hills to the south and west.

Terrain: Mainly grassy hills with a large amount of rocks spread throughout
Ascent: Approximately 725m
Height: 925m (3035 ft)
Duration: 4 Hours Approx
What to bring: Water and Snacks.
Extra clothing layer for the summit.
Hiking Boots and Waterproof Jacket advised.
