Join Us for a Coffee Morning in Aid of Down Syndrome Louth/Meath

We are delighted to invite you to a special Coffee Morning at our Trim Pharmacy on Thursday, 7th November, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. About Down Syndrome Louth/Meath

Founded in 1982, the Louth/Meath Branch of Down Syndrome Ireland serves around 250 member families across the region. Entirely operated on a voluntary basis, the charity’s motto, “Parents for Parents,” reflects their dedication to supporting individuals with Down syndrome and helping them achieve bright, independent futures through education, support, and friendship.

One of the core initiatives run by the charity is the Early Intervention Home Teacher Programme for preschool children aged 1 to 6. Established in 1982 due to the absence of state-provided services in the area, this programme focuses on play as a key learning tool. Trained Home Teachers visit children every fortnight for one to two hours, working closely with families to enhance the child-parent play relationship. They also coordinate with local preschools and primary schools to ensure the best educational experiences for each child.

The programme is coordinated by Paula McDonagh, with the help of six part-time Home Teachers. For more information, you can contact Paula at 087 6942830 or via email at earlyinterventionprogrammedslm@gmail.com. The charity is always looking for new committee members to join their monthly meetings at the Conyngham Arms Hotel in Slane.

We hope you can come along and help support this wonderful cause. Let’s make it a day to remember!
